About
Kaylea Smith has been tattooing since 2010, when her apprenticeship and professional tattooing career began.
An ever-curious Gemini by nature, she has varied artistic interests and has studied everything from writing and literature, to music history and ballet, to fine art and art history. In traditional art, her favorite subject is human figure drawing and portraiture, working primarily in dry mediums like charcoal, graphite, conté crayons, and pastels. However, her tattoo style is more encompassing of Illustrative, Traditional & Neo-traditional art styles. She enjoys doing line work, including bold and fine line, as well as color, blackwork, and black & gray tattoos. She is just as happy to do tiny tattoos as larger pieces. She is most inspired by Victorian and Edwardian themes, Art Nouveau and Art Deco, and is partial to organic and asymmetrical forms (super mathematical geometric art and photo-realism tattoos make this air sign feel trapped—help!). She also loves flowers, animal and pet tattoos, mermaids, pinups, classic art and literature themes, and she truly enjoys doing sentimental pieces such as handwriting from a loved one (those are actually her favorite kind of tattoos to do for people). She is partial to weird and quirky or humorous tattoos, so send those ideas over, too!
She may be a shy, introverted lover of classic literature, but she is a huge fan of talking and will always try her best to make first-timers feel comfortable and at ease.
In her free time, she loves traveling, reading, drinking coffee, and practicing languages in Duo. When she’s not working or making drawings for people, she’s probably in ballet class or powerlifting because she detests sitting still for too long.
